The Luck of the Draw

I was just sitting here wishing that I could win a Free Groceries for a Year Giveaway.  I  could care less about the Lotto…..but free groceries for a year! It’s a Frugal’s dream come true.

I was thinking this, but than I said to myself, “I’d never win.  I never win anything!” Poor little ol’ me.  But that’s not true -  I’ve actually won some great things.

Just this past summer I went to my 20th High School Reunion.  I won a $25 Shell gas card for coming the farthest (from Texas to California). That was nice because gas prices were at their peak at that time, and California gas prices were even worse than that. I gave it to my sis, who was hosting me and driving me all over the place.

The organizers even gave each one of us “girls” an insulated lunch tote, emblazoned on the front with our dear alma mater’s coat of arms.  That was nice, too.

My husband won a brand new 8GB iPod at his annual holiday get together.  He gave it to me, so that’s a win for my side.

Over 10 years ago, I “won” the grandaddy of them all.  My little sis was living out here in Dallas after graduating from college and getting married (She’s back in California, and now I’m out here in Texas.  Life is funny).  She dropped an entry form into a box at her local McDonald’s.  About three months later (long after she’d forgotten about it) she hears a knock on her door. It was a special Fed Ex delivery.  She had won…..an all-expense paid trip for four to Disney World! And I got to go.  We had a great time. I saw Tiger Woods there.

I think I will enter that grocery drawing after all.  You just never know!
