Frugal Idea for December 19th, 2009

Let The Good Times Roll

Yahoo! The best holiday ever invented is just around the corner. And I am ready for it - everything is bought, wrapped, sent, decorated.  Now I can sit back and enjoy.

Christmas is great for procrastinators, though.  If I had the guts, I might wait until oh, December 22nd or so to start my shopping.  Black Friday is supposedly where the savings are “at”, but it seems to me that you can really get great deals the closer you actually get to the Big Day.

But procrastination not being among my many faults, I always like to have Christmas squared away as early as possible. So here we are.

Monday we’re having a get together.  That may seem weird, but it turns out everyone coming is off work for the rest of the year, so it works out great.  On Tuesday, my mother-in-law is coming to spend the holidays with us.  My home will be positively bursting with holiday cheer.  Which is cheap.  And cheery.

So anyway, what’s up with Facebook?  Recently a lot of people I knew from years and years ago have found me on Facebook and said they want to be my “Friend”.  Now this is weird.  Because I must have a Facebook account? When, where, how did that happen?  I guess I must have blacked out and signed up. I hate it when I do that.

Also, some of these very same people were quite fond of torturing me during the many trying years of our acquaintance.  Yes, you guessed it.  I went to a Catholic grammar school. My greatest crimes - my hair was curly, I was chubby, and I wore glasses.  Oh, the Humanity!

The funny thing is - my hair is still curly, I’m still chubby, and I still wear glasses.  So what gives?  In other words, why would they be interested in what I’m “up” to?   Very odd.  Best policy here - ignore these Weirdos.  But just in case any Weirdos are reading this, just so you know there are no hard feelings: Merry Christmas, Weirdos!

Oh, one more thing about Facebook.  I don’t think it’s very nice to publish pictures of people without their permission.  One of my, er, “Friends” published a rather unflattering photo of Yours Truly on her page.  Right next to a glam studio shot of herself.  Merry Christmas, Weirdo!
