Housewifery 101

Yesterday I had a great day.  Doing all those fun things I love.

Today, I don my (metaphorical) apron and immerse myself in Housewifery.

In other words, time to go grocery shopping.  I haven’t been in a long time so I need a lot, and will spend a lot.  Grocery shopping is not my favorite. I’m going to have to go in the station wagon, because my scooter just doesn’t have the payload to accommodate a stock-up grocery session :(.

There are four stores where I regularly grocery shop.  I probably should hit all four today, but I’m pretty sure I won’t.  For sure two (Sam’s Club and Walmart), maybe three (and Kroger), and if I’m really saucy, all four (and Sprouts).

So here is my list, by store:

Sam’s Club: Texas Toast, Apples, Beer, Smart Balance, Bananas, Lunch Meat (turkey), Oatmeal, Charcoal, Steam Cleaner Solution, Cheddar Cheese, Spinach

Walmart Grocery: Ground Turkey, TVP (maybe, depending on price), canned stuff (corn, tomatoes), tuna, good veggie deals

Kroger: Dry Milk, check out meat sales (I don’t know why, haven’t gotten the flyer for a few weeks), check out TVP availability and price, good veggie deals (Kroger usually has good sales on frozen veggies).

Sprouts: TVP, Sunflower Seeds, Whole Wheat Flour

It’s Frugal dogma to make a grocery list and not deviate from it by one iota.  As you can see, however, mine has some built-in flexibility.  This is so I can take advantage of any insane deals I may come across.  Sometimes it happens.  I’ve gotten really lucky at Kroger a time or two.

Sam’s Club is the furthest from me, so I start there and work my way home.  Sprouts is totally in the opposite direction, so I probably won’t go today.  They’re supposed to be building a new one here in my town, but so far they haven’t started anything.  I drove by the lot yesterday - nothing happening.

OK, here I go.  Don’t worry - I just had a delicious tofu-curry salad sandwich on whole wheat bread, so I’m not hungry at all.  I just want to get this over with!
