Frugal Idea for February 14th, 2009

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day, Frugal World.  Can’t think of any frugal ways to spend Valentine’s Day, other than the obvious - make your own, etc.  Plus, maybe you just don’t happen to be in a romantic frame of mind just because the calendar says you should be.

If this happens to be the case, than you have indeed hit the Frugal Valentine’s Day lottery.  You can stock up on all the V-day trappings tomorrow when they are 75% off, and save them for the day when romance strikes.  Maybe that day is Feb. 16th, maybe it’s March 23rd.  Who knows? Cupid can be such an elusive little cuss at times. But if you go this route, you can be happy that you are on your own love schedule, not Hallmark’s.

However, going the traditional route can be fun, too.  I see that Papa John’s has a heart shaped pizza for $14.99 today.  That’s cute, and pretty frugal for a V-day dinner.  Of course, homemade heart-shaped pizza is a lot cheaper, but who am I to place a (cheap) price on true love.
