Frugal Friday Has Left the Building
Here we go again. Living the Vida (Not) Frugal.
This is my fault, but still an accident. Accidents can be expensive.
Here’s what happened: last night it was time to hit the sack. Yawn! We were all so sleepy from too much birthday cake. As I struggled out of my reclining chair, I bonked Sparky, who likes to sit under the footstool when it’s raised. I didn’t think I hit her that hard, but when I bent down to give her an “I’m sorry” pat she gave a high-pitched yelp. This morning she seems to be all tremble-y and pant-y. She’s sticking to me like glue today, following me everywhere. That’s a little unusual. Poor thing - this means she doesn’t feel good, and that means a trip to the vet. Sparky’s not a complainer so when she acts like this I really pay attention. Oh, poor thing, she looks kind of sad there doesn’t she?
Today is payday, so I can’t fault Sparky on her timing. Since the weekend is upon us I’d better take her. If she gets worse on Saturday evening that means a trip to the Emergency Vet. I wouldn’t hesitate to take her, but the E-Vet is about 3 times more expensive than the regular vet.
Ok, to tell you the truth, this is a cheap bid for sympathy from all my tightwad friends (ha ha - I guess that’s the only cheap thing I’m doing today!). The truth is I NEVER feel bad about money spent on the vet. Sure it’s expensive but I really hate to see animals suffer. I’m not kidding. I’ve spent a fortune on lots and lots of animals that don’t even belong to me. But, you know, all those car payments I’m not making cover plenty of vet bills.
I suppose it’s all part of the ebb-and-flow of my financial life. Sometimes you eat the chicken and sometimes you eat the feathers. Today I’m chowing down on a big ‘ol bowl of feathers.
Real time update (take that Twitter!): I just called the Vet and they have an opening for 9:00 am. Yay! We’ll get to the bottom of this right quick!
Oh, on a lighter note, it’s time for the big birthday reveal. Here’s what I got my hubby for his birthday:

A huge carrot cake, and a teeny computer. He does something with computers for a living, so he always likes the latest gadgets. And he really liked this. Yay! Happy birthday, dude.
