Friday Night Fun
In my house Friday Night is Date Night. What that means is dinner out, cooked by someone other than myself. Now that’s what I call a good time. I even had a diet coke. I don’t care if it has poop in it. True, I’m a lot more adventurous than most people though.
Being frugal is all about the struggle. That is, the struggle to not buy things so I can keep more of my money for myself, and not have to eat dog food and ketchup when I’m old. It’s this inherent and ageless conflict that gives my blog its intense, gripping drama.
Oooops! Chalk one up for the dark side - I bought some good stuff recently. Two books. They are Embroidered Effects by Jenny Hart, the Sublime Stitching lady and Make if Fast, Cook It Slow by Stephanie O’Dea the Year of Slow-Cooking lady.
I like what both these gals offer to the world, plus I like embroidery and using my slow-cookers, so to me these are worthwhile purchases. I want the authors to keep on doing what they’re doing, too, so I feel like I should support them.
These books aren’t really good matches for my Kindle, so I bought the actual books. After I bought them I checked and only the cookbook is available for download, but it’s not too much cheaper so might as well get the “real” version.
The next thing on my agenda is to knit some socks. One of my husband’s friends at work likes to do this and she was telling me all about it. It sounds fun. I think I can really get myself some unique footwear.
I have plenty of knitting books, so scaring up a pattern should not be a problem. My yarn stash is ginormous so I won’t have to buy any. And I already own every knitting needle known to man, so this will be a low-cost, frugal activity. And when everything goes KABLOOEY, at least I wont have to worry about socks, because I’ll be able to make my own. Yeehaw!
