Feeling Sparkly
I woke up this morning with a strange sense of urgency.
Uh-oh! The gardeners will be here any second. Must get outside and do poopy patrol.
Oh, wait a minute. That wasn’t it. Though the gardeners do come early on Saturday. So I really do need to do poopy patrol.
When I finally came up to total consciousness, I realized that what I was feeling wasn’t urgency. It was excitement.
I’m in LOVE, I’m in LOVE and I DON’T CARE WHO KNOWS IT. Yep, I’m in love with my new bookshelves.
They came yesterday afternoon, and I’ve been putting my books away. I haven’t finished yet. It’s a big job because I own a lot of books.
I worked in a library for 15 years. So of course I know all about alphabetization and the Dewey decimal system. But I’ve decided to rebel against these twin gods of the library-world in organizing my own personal library. I feel comfortable saying this publicly because I’m pretty sure none of my old library cronies read this blog.
So I’ll have a Dickens section. A Victorian Section. Oh-and let’s not forget the “Ladies of Crime” section, featuring Agatha Christie (BTW, there’s a brand-new biography out about her. Sounds spicy.), Mary Roberts Rinehart, Josephine Tey, and P.D. James. Mr. Louis L’amour will be tucked right underneath.
Of course I’ll have a personal finance section — with The Complete Tightwad Gazette holding pride of place.
This will be a GREAT Independence Day for me and my books. I’m liberating tons and tons of happy memories in the form of books. Not to mention Cheap entertainment. Whenever I look at Travels With Charlie by Mr. John Steinbeck I remember the fabulous vacation in Monterey, CA that I took with my Henning family. I also wonder this: did Steinbeck invent the first modern RV? Hmmmmm.
Study Before
Study After. Yeehaw, little doggies! Happy 4th, Everyone.
