Frugal Idea for March 26th, 2009

Birthday Break

I thought I’d take a break today from laughing in the face of OPEC and tell you all about a great Frugal time my friend recently had.

This Tuesday was her birthday.  She attacked it on a couple of Frugal fronts.

First of all, she called in to work and took a Personal day.  Good move, Girlie.

Next, she went to Disneyland.

Say what?!? Last I heard the adult admission price was *gulp* $65.00! Frugal? Not!

Well, it turns out that Disneyland now has a promotion where you can get in free on your birthday.  So that’s what she did.  To make it even more fun and more Frugal, she went all by herself (plus, it was Tuesday, so everyone else was working).

As if a GLORIOUS freebie to Disneyland wasn’t enough….

…you get another ticket to get in free AGAIN within one month of your visit!

She tells me they also give you a big button to wear that says “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” and all the cast members say “Hi” to you all day long. That is too cute.

I can’t wait to hear the review of the new and improved “It’s a Small World” ride.  I’ve always loved that creeeepy little sojourn.

If this sounds like something you’d like to do, go to the Disney website to register.  I might just do this myself.  Yes, I live in Texas, but my birthday is in April, and you just never know where you’ll wind up on your birthday.  There’s no harm in being prepared.

Later, I told my friend that too bad there wasn’t a theme park for Frugal people.  She thought that was pretty funny, and thought a good name would be “Tightwadland, where you can fill up on Saltines and water.” Now you’re gettin’ the idea!
