Bargain Weekend II - Tessie’s Cheap Decor
Back when I first set up housekeeping, I was very into “Theme” decorating. This resulted in a green apple kitchen. It was goofy, but I really loved it. And amazingly, it didn’t stop us from selling that house in less than a week a few years later.
But now that I’m older, I’m even lazier. And I get a little bit bored with themes. So my decor, if you can even call what I have “decor”, is really just a bunch of stuff I bought because I happened to like it. I just try to make it all work together somehow. Like the United Nations.
Since I’ve been married a few good years, my decor purchases are naturally few and far between now, as I have a large backlog of “stuff”. But recently I was at a local Home Goods store (for a very good reason which I can’t reveal here).
I had been there at Christmas time to do some shopping. When I was there, I had seen something that I really really really wanted, but I just didn’t want to pay what they where asking. So I reluctantly put it back on the shelf, and really didn’t give it much thought after that.
Well, that object was kind of unusual. Definitely not to just anyone’s taste. So when I was there again just the other day, I thought I’d take a little look-see in the Clearance shelves. Sure enough, it was there. And it was half off!
That was more like it. I could pay this new improved price. This wasn’t in the monthly budget, but I still bought it anyway, because it was a great deal on something that is totally me.
Here it is:
It’s a little rustic motor scooter swingy thingy. See what I mean? - It’s not to everybody’s taste but I love it. It captures the feel of motor scootering very nicely, I think. I just wish it was pink.
This isn’t really practical or good for anything useful at all. It’s just makes me happy.
The original price was $39.99, and I got it for $20.00. Now I just have to decide where to put it. I wonder if Senor Pig would be willing to share his mantel?
Pink Motor Scooter Poll Results: Yay! I think I can say that Pink Motor Scooter Week was a success. Remember - the whole week was an attempt to convince my readers that Pink Motor Scooters are frugal. Of my 10 readers (oh, wait a minute, I voted too) 7 readers agreed that scooters are frugal, 2 people decided they were definitely NOT frugal, and 1 person just couldn’t decide. Maybe I’ll leave the poll up just a little bit longer because I find it so interesting. I expect to see Pink Motor Scooters flooding the roads any day now.
